[su_box title=”Hannah Grace and Fitz”]For Hannah Grace Summerlin, becoming a dog owner was something she had wanted to be her entire life. After growing up with pets, Summerlin knew that once she was financially stable enough on her own, she wanted to adopt.

[su_quote] “I met Fitz at Paws in Kyle,” said Summerlin. “At first, when I was searching, I thought I wanted a really large dog. But Fitz was the one.”[/su_quote] To be matched with dogs that had things Summerlin was searching for, Paws had her fill out paperwork describing what she would consider the perfect fit. After that, she was then able to meet different dogs in a meet and greet area inside the shelter.

“I liked how thorough this place was, Summerlin said about the process. “They really took the time to find out what I was searching for and ran a background check on everyone who would be living in the adopted pets home.” Although there were a few confusions between the shelter and Fitz’s information (they thought he was three years old but he was barely a year), overall, Summerlin was very happy about how the process went.

Referring to herself as an “overprotective mother,” Summerlin said it was difficult to not panic every time something Fitz ate something, chewed something up, or started acting sick in any way.

[su_quote]”I spent an entire day at the vet because I thought he had caught a stomach bug,” Summerlin said. “I didn’t know what to do so I took him to be seen by a doctor. He was fine but I freaked out.”[/su_quote] Now out of the shelter, Fitz enjoys going on at least three walks a day and loves to go on car rides whenever possible.[/su_box]

[su_box title=”Carly and Rico”]When Carly Decker and her husband first decided to foster Rico, they thought they were doing just that-fostering. But after living with him, they decided that no other family was as perfect as their own for Rico to live in for the rest of his life.

Although there have been some challenges with bringing Rico into the house (like house training him and having to make sure there is no way to get out of the backyard), the Decker family cannot imagine life without him.[/su_box]
